One Star

Every once in a while I go check out the Amazon page for my book, just to see if anyone has added a review. Just recently, someone did, giving me one star (!). The text of the review, in its entirety:

"Haven't gotten to this one yet,but know what it is about."

Which. . . fine. You bought the book, and every other review is 5 stars, so whatever man, but seriously? You're going to pull my review average down because my book is gathering dust on your night stand without a single crease in the spine? Uncool.

Out of curiousity, I decided to look at this person's other reviews to see which other books he's done this to. He has reviewed scores of products, the majority of which are picture puzzle books and connect-the-dots books, which he invariably reviews with five stars and praises as being "good for the brain." He has a preference for prepper books, and other books of survival guidance which he claims include "good information."

Those reviews are also quoted in their entirety.

He also buys, but does not read, books about UFOs, which he appears to grant stars to based on how far into the book he is. So, for instance, the other books he notes not having started yet are also given one star, while one that he is halfway through is given three. Does he think the star system is for noting how far he made it through the book?

I love love love the fact that the people who aren't friends and/or relatives who have reviewed my book are universally crazy people.
