So, I’ve been gone for a while. Or, at least, I haven’t been posting anything longer than a single sentence or two. That’s because I was writing a book, and I decided to skip journaling during the process. I have a limited number of keystrokes in me on a daily basis. I didn’t want to shoot my load for you guys when there was paying work to be done.
The book is done. Sort of, anyway. It has been submitted to the editor for review. The possibility of extensive revision looms large in my future. The editor was excited about the sample chapters, so I expect any revisions to be minimal, but he may want me to cut as much as seven thousand words, which would be deeply painful. Also, I want to write a conclusion, because right now the book doesn’t so much end as just stop.
It’s a nonfiction work including all the sass and poop jokes longtime readers of this journal will have come to expect. It’s about surveillance, and will hopefully make everyone who reads it throw away all of their technology and go live in the woods so that I can have the cities to myself.
I learned a lot while I was researching the book. Mainly that the Internet is trying to kill us all, but also that government in general is just sort of weirdly evil no matter what. Like, no matter what kind of government you’re talking about, some part of it will always want to either spy on you or inject a disease into your eye. The director of at least one agency is always going to be a very high-functioning sociopath.
Anyway, I don’t know when the book is going to come out, but I expect early next year. In answer to the question I know you want to ask – yes I do sign body parts, but only if they’re still attached to the original owner.
